Locality to help more communities take control
Locality, the national network of community-led organisations, has received £32 million in contracts from the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) to provide support to more local communities to create the neighbourhoods they want to live in.
The contracts will enable them to support
- neighbourhoods to tackle local issues, through the Our Place programme
- 100 new community groups to develop Community Action Plans
- more and faster transfer of assets from councils to community ownership
- more local groups to draw up neighbourhood plans.
A website will also be set up in early March to share learning and offer advice to communities willing to take up the opportunities.
Roadshows for funding
Locality is holding a roadshow on three new funding opportunities to help tackle local issues and shape local services in London on Friday 13 March. Book your place here.
Phoenix Community Housing has received funding and support through the first round of the programme, and is developing a neighbourhood plan around youth commissioning and planning. You can read the article, Power to the young people in the Winter 2015 issue of Grapevine here.
