Equalities Working Group

The Equalities Working Group (EWG)

The Equalities Working Group is a collaboration of VCSE organisations in Lewisham working to address inequality with communities that are protected under equality legislation.

In particular the group is focussing on the priorities identified by the Borough of Lewisham in its Comprehensive Equalities Scheme. The following nine organisations make up the group and receive Main grants funding from Lewisham to undertake specific equalities work:

Lewisham Disability Coalition

Lewisham Pensioners Forum
Lewisham Refugee and Migrant Network METRO

Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust

Age UK / Community Connections

Voluntary Action Lewisham

The group is working to deliver an action plan that responds to the following priorities within Lewisham’s Comprehensive Equalities Scheme:

  • Improving access to services
  • Increasing participation and engagement
  • Improving mutual understanding and respect
  • Closing the gap
  • Tackling victimisation and discrimination
