Giving Tuesday 2018

#givingtuesday is all about supporting and celebrating Britain’s charities. This year it falls on Tuesday 27 November and is an opportunity for people to give back either through their skills, time and/or money, ‘Giving Tuesday’ follows on from Black Friday which is the day after the US holiday of Thanksgiving, where retailers make many special offers. Since arriving in the UK in 2014, Giving Tuesday has become one of Britain’s biggest days for charities, raising millions of pounds for good causes.

So what’s involved?

At Simply-listening we passionately believe that when someone is heard with kindness and compassion, it can be start of restoring hope in someone’s life. A trained listener will listen to your views, thoughts and feelings.

We are NOT counselling, we DON’T give advice, problem solve or provide therapeutic or psychological service.

As a student of Positive Psychology I was keen to write about wellbeing during International Stress Awareness Week (5 - 9 November). Ironically, trying to write a blog during a busy and, let’s face it, stressful, week was a challenge. In the end it came down to deciding that this was a priority for me, despite all the other demands. And for many others like myself, deciding not to allow stress to take hold has to be a conscious decision.

So what helps?
