Data protection reform: an introduction to the GDPR for the voluntary sector
This full day course, delivered by NCVO, will get you up to speed on the new data protection requirements, and provide ideas about how to implement a compliance strategy for your organisation. Click to download the full agenda.
We are offering affordable places on this course to Lewisham voluntary sector groups, subsidised by Lewisham Borough Council (usual NCVO price £195 per head).
The GDPR applies to any organisation working within the EU, and will continue to apply to the UK post-Brexit. Becoming compliant may seem like an overwhelming task for a voluntary organisation. Finding out how it applies to your organisation, and what you need to do, is the first step and will make the process more manageable.
If you handle personal data in your organisation, or are responsible for processing data (e.g. via a database, handling donations, or client, volunteer or staff details), you have responsibilities under the new laws - whether you are paid staff or a volunteer. Find out how they apply to you and what steps you and your organisation can take to be compliant.
About the trainer: Mark Burnett is an NCVO associate and a fully qualified Data Protection Officer. He is an experienced fundraiser and marketer and can offer a unique insight into how GDPR will impact on the voluntary sector. He is Head of Privacy at ClearComm which is part of the Kingston Smith group as well as a Committee member, treasurer and recognised Trainer for the IoF South East and London regions.
