Principles of Fundraising III
Funding Stages
The range of steps undertaken during the fundraising process can be better managed by grouping each step into a number of stages. Here is an example of a four-stage approach:
Prepare for funding
- Research and planning
- Prepare the application
- Follow-up (once the application has been sent off)
- Monitoring and evaluation
To prepare for funding, your organisation will usually need:
- A management committee
- A governing document (e.g. constitution or memorandum and articles of association)
- A bank account (with at least two unrelated signatories)
- A record of your annual accounts
- Equal opportunities, safeguarding (child protection), and health and safety policies (where applicable). These are the minimum policies you may need.
