Focus on London report issued

Focus on London websiteThe Greater London Authority have launched a new website providing statistics on a wide range of social and economic issues from population size and life expectancy to which underground lines carry the most passengers.

Interesting facts about Lewisham include:

  • Lewisham had a population of 196,200 in 2006, but this is expected to rise to 216,800 by 2016
  • Less businesses survive for more than three years in London than any other region within the UK
  • There are 3,263 properties in Lewisham with a significant chance of flooding
  • Lewisham has 7,354 people per square kilometre, half the level of Kensington and Chelsea but three times the level in Bromley

Unfortunately some of the statistics, especially those dealing with population figures, are inconsistent and many of the statistics aren't shown by Local Authority or below. However, there is a very useful chapter covering websites, references and further reading.
