Essential Skills in Financial Management

This is a series of five half day courses that gives a thorough introduction to all aspects of managing your voluntary organisation's money. It is designed for beginners and those wanting to refresh their skills. Priority will be given to those booking all five courses.

Session 1: Financial Policies & Procedures 

This course covers the underlying policies and procedures you need to put in place to manage your organisation's money safely and effectively.

By the end of this course you will:

  • Understand the main financial responsibilities of the management committee
  • Know why financial controls are necessary
  • Be aware of the financial policies and procedures you need in your own organisation

Who is the course suitable for?: 
Essential Skills in Financial Management is suitable for beginners with little or no knowledge of bookkeeping and accounts as well as those who feel they need a refresher course. This might include treasurers and other committee members, admin or finance workers, managers and volunteers.
Prerequisites for attending this course: 
This course is part of a series of five half day sessions. Priority will be given to people attending all five sessions. Basic numeracy and literacy skills are required.
