Communities that Care – Investment Fund Launch
Communities that Care – Investment Fund Launch
12 December, 2-4pm, Civic Suite, Catford
In July 2011 the Mayor of Lewisham made a commitment to creating an Investment Fund to support organisations to play a greater role in some areas of public service delivery that are changing rapidly or where the council is likely to play a less direct service provider role. The aim of the fund is to enable organisations to test new approaches and innovate in key priority areas.
The first of these priority areas is Communities that Care with a focus on responding to the needs of a growing ageing population and ensuring that adults with a learning disability, mental health condition or physical or sensory impairment are helped to live their lives as they wish.
This event will be an opportunity to hear more about the challenges facing us in providing these services and the transformation needed to meet those challenges. The role of the voluntary and community sector will be key in successfully bringing about this change and this will require some investment in both funding and time to work on solutions together.
The Investment Fund will provide funding to voluntary and community sector organisations to work with Lewisham Council to find new ways of working that will support people to live independent lives, do the things that are important to them and play their part within their local community. Following the event there will be a call for expressions of interest from organisations interested in developing ideas with us and from these a small number of organisations will be identified to work up proposals in more depth.
To book a place at this event email andy.thomas@lewisham.gov.uk with your name, organisation & contact details or phone 8314 9996.
