Local assembly meetings schedule September-October 2010

Local assembly meetings in September and October 2010 (except Blackheath) will host special ‘Our Lewisham, Our Say’ budget consultation workshops. This will be your chance to have your say on how the Council deals with the budget challenges facing local government.

The Neighbourhood Engagement project can support Lewisham groups on how they participate and put their views effectively in this consultation or other situations that required it. Our contact details:

Neighbourhood Engagement Project

Our Neighbourhood Engagement project is now underway. The project focuses on two areas:

  1. Local Assemblies, one for each ward, were established in 2008, providing an opportunity for people to have a greater say about the local area in which they live or work. Our project will work with selected Local Assemblies and voluntary and community organisations to create good communication, understanding and opportunities to work together for the benefit of the area.
  2. Neighbourhood collaboration is one of the development programmes in the Lewisham Change Up Development plan. It aims to promote collaborative partnerships and projects on a neighbourhood basis. This may include developing joint funding bids, Joint services and/or the greater sharing of resources such as IT and back office functions.

In brief, the project is looking to empower groups.

To find out more, please contact Luisa Ares at VAL on:

Luisa is interested to hear from groups (informal or established) who are or are not participating in the local assemblies.
